Alex ,
I knew him when I was 17 , He became a great influence in my live. I attended his memorial day and tried to express my feelings how much we shared, I don't think I did him justice, however ,he will always be with me.

Remembering my friend Alex, by Jim Edgeworth
I want to convey my sympathy and condolences to Jean, Mark and all members of Alex's family.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Although I was saddened by reading of his passing, his obituary reminded me that Alex was indeed an impressive and inspiring man.
He impressed and inspired me since the day we met nearly forty years ago at Thomas J Lipton.
We collaborated closely on many projects over the years. mostly developing machinery designs.
He was very knowledgeable and talented - his designs worked consistently and I learned from him.
Working with him was literally fun every day and our department was envied by others (claiming we had too much fun!)
Invariably when Alex was in a social group, all members of the group would be enjoying themselves.
His social talents matched his technical talents.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Regretfully I am not able to attend his memorial on Sunday but my heart will be there.
Heavy hearts will likely be elevated when stories of Alex's life are traded amongst his many friends.
May tears of sadness be replaced by tears of laughter - Alex would like that.
Alex, farewell my "bonnie friend"
