The Howe Family posted a condolence
Lyle (or Mr. Clarke, as we Howe kids always called him ) was a joy. Summers days spent pool-side with the entire Clarke family are recalled fondly and it was the sound of Mr. Clarke's laughter that is best remembered. Dwain and Lyle and practical jokes - moving the walls of Lyle's cubicle daily inch by inch until his 'office' was a mere 6 feet across. Good times. Mr. Clarke was happiness, and we will indeed remember him with kindness and humour.

I am very saddened to learn of Lyle's passing. I was privileged to have had the opportunity to have worked with Lyle on a number of occasions and enjoyed his dedication and humour. I remember after his retirement at The Star, Tom Eward and I visited his Fish and Chip restaurant and had a wonderful time reminiscing the great times we all had. Many times I would see daughter Glynis in the hall ways of The Star. It was nice to ask how her Dad was and see the smile on her face, always saying he will never change. You will be missed my friend. R.I.P.

I am saddened to learn of Lyle's passing. He was an honest, thoughtful and fun loving person. His humour was contagious. A great person to work for and with.
Lyle was the first manager I worked for back in the old Etobicoke Zone Office at 5100 Dundas in 1967. At the end of my first day he came up to the front desk, where I was answering phones, with is coat over his arm, his hat on sideways and grabbed the handle of address card wheel and began spinning it around and around while yelling "hard to starboard, hard to starboard" and then left. What a first impression of a Star manager ! Many more good years of working with Lyle followed.
My condolences to the Clarke family.

It was a pleasure to work alongside with Lyle in my years with the Star.
He always had a story or a joke to tell, never a dull moment with Lyle.
We enjoyed our luncheons with Lyle at the head of the table.
You will be missed at the "Frigate and the Firkin" pub.
Rest in peace.
