Dear Brenda and Family
We are sorry for your loss. I could always hear George working in the backyard or cutting the grass. Bruce and him had good chats at the coffee shop or over the back fence. Thinking of you.

It is with great sadness that I learned of George's passing.
In my heart and in my mind I hold dear so many wonderful.memories of George.
My mind takes me back many decades as I see a younger, lithe George diving off the rocks above the Georgian Bay and his incredible strength, determination and fortitude in overcoming the odds to not only reclaim his life but to become a man above men - a true hero.
That George never saw himself as a hero is testament to the true strength and character of this man and his humility.
George gave so much of himself and so selflessly.
I remember when my parents bought their home in the mid-1960s and I recall how George readily assisted in helping to get some key features in the house up to code.
With fondness I remember the too-many-to-count visits to Brenda and George's in what we inner-city dwellers affectionately called 'Scarberia.'
George (and Brenda) always made me, their younger cousin, feel welcome and loved.
As the years passed by, I didn't see George and the family as often as I'd have liked but neither George nor the rest of the family were far from my mind, and were always in my heart and always in my prayers.
George will be remembered by me as an amazing man who overcame incredible odds and in so doing earned himself a place as a man above men and someone worth emulating.
That he has lived a good and full life should go without saying as is the evidence of the legacy that he has left behind.
My heart truly goes out to you Brenda - as George's wife of 59 years I cannot imagine the depth of sorrow you must surely feel. Please know that I love you and wish I were there to give you a hug in person and extend my condolences to you in person.
Bonnie, Dawn and Chris, please know that I love you and send you my deepest, most heartfelt sympathy.
Condolences to all of George's family, friends and those who mourn his passing.
With love and sympathy,
Sue Rekowski-Lonergan

Looking back over the years, I recall George with an easy smile and as a wonderful cousin.
I remember when my parents bought their house and George was quick to lend a hand to help to get a few things up to code.
As I child, I so looked forward to visiting my cousins George, Brenda, Bonnie, Dawn and Chris.
I remember George in so many ways from when I was so very young to the years in between and then as an adult and all of my memories are about a wonderful, remarkable man who will most assuredly be missed by all who.love and know him.
My deepest condolences to each of you but most especially to Brenda, Bonnie, Dawn and Christopher and the rest of the family.
