Obituary of Marion Carol Soltysiak

Marion Carol Soltysiak (nee Lichty) passed away peacefully on Saturday December 17th, just three days short of her 80th birthday. She is survived by her husband James (who she doted on for 58 years) Jeff and Shelley (Megan, Mary, Sam, Melanie, Kylie), Todd and Sheila, and Leanne and Scott (Tyanna, Brittany). She is also survived by brother Dennis Lichty (Barb) and sister Marlene Gillies (Roy.) Marion was an active volunteer in the community. She served enthusiastically with Waterloo Minor Hockey, the Waterloo Minor Hockey Ladies Auxiliary and Waterloo Minor Soccer. She's fondly remembered as the neighborhood lady who gave out homemade popcorn balls on Halloween. Mom loved a good joke and laughed often. She was a great cook and a generous hostess who believed that her guests always had room for a little more, and that the only thing better than dessert is two desserts. Marion loved hockey and baseball and cheering on her beloved Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. And even though the Leafs let her down year after year, and she swore she’d never watch again, she couldn’t find a way to stay away. The family would like to thank CCAC for their support and care that allowed Mom to spend her final days at home as was her wish. The family would also like to thank Bethell Hospice for their care and compassion. At Marion's request, there will be no funeral or visitation. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bethell Hospice, or the ALS Society of Canada would be welcome.
