Obituary of Fergus Brian Flattery
FLATTERY, Fergus (Fergie) Brian
We are heartbroken to announce the death of Fergie on March 18, 2017.
Predeceased by his parents Henry (Harry) and Dr. Kathleen (Ronnie) Flattery and his brother David. Cherished brother of Mary (John), Henry (Alexis), Peter (Monica), Darina (Mark), Sheila (the late John). Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, all of whom he so loved. His connection to each of us was truly unique and special.
Fergie was a man of many talents: photographer extraordinaire, family archivist, superb cook, avid cyclist, amateur historian, with a knowledge of Toronto second to none. He passionately loved his family, his cats, his Irish heritage and enjoyed many connections with extended family abroad.
Fergie's love of Toronto was evident in his collection of superb photos, frequently shared on social media, accompanied by a pun or two, for which he was legendary.
Fergie was born in Galway, Ireland in 1954 and emigrated to Toronto in 1957 with his family. He attended St. Michael's Choir School, Michael Power High School, followed by the University of Toronto, where he studied Urban Planning. During his career, he worked for companies such as The Printing House, Stikeman Elliot LLP, Brookfield Properties and Reed Stenhouse.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
We are blessed to have known you Fergie.
You are forever in our hearts. Slainte.
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Toronto Humane Society. Online condolences and donations can be made at www.imfunerals.com
