Obituary of Edith Martha Downer

Edith M Downer (Atkinson) from Shelburne, ON passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on September 27, 2018. Edith has been re-united in heaven with Wilfred & Emily Atkinson (dad and mom), Harold Atkinson (brother), Stanley & Clara Downer (father-in law & mother – in law), Eric Downer (brother – in law), and her son David Downer. Born in 1943 to Wilfred and Emily Atkinson, Edith will be lovingly remembered by her dear husband Glen Downer, sons John and Paul (Kristy) Downer, nephew Wilfred Atkinson and sister-in-law Velma Atkinson. Edith managed her Avon business in Shelburne/Mississauga for over 40 years, prior to which she worked as a nurse (graduated at Toronto Western Hospital). Always with a quick smile, a cheerful word and a listening ear, Edith will be missed by family and many throughout Shelburne. Special thanks to those who have assisted Edith this past few years. Cremation has taken place through In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. and she has been buried in the Douglas Hill Cemetery in Cargill, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shelburne Grace Church of The Nazarene (shelburnegrace.com). The celebration of life service for friends and family of Edith Downer will be held on Saturday October 27th for 1:30pm (doors open at 12:45pm) at Bethel Bible Chapel (419 Main St E, Shelburne, ON L9V 2Z1).
