Obituary of Mildred Louise FLETT
Mildred Louise Flett (Churchill), a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away December 29th, 2024, at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital with her granddaughter Stephanie by her side, at the age of 95 due to complications from a fall.
Born in Pickering, Ontario on December 27, 1929, to Edith Louise Churchill (Ackford) and William Albert Churchill, Mildred will be remembered for her outgoing friendly spirit. Moving many times over the years her ability to make friends easily, served her well. She loved to feed people and wanted to make sure there was always lots of food for everyone. Known for her shortbread cookies, chelsea buns, Ranger Fred cookies, nuts and bolts and always with a cup of tea in hand. In her spare time Mildred loved to golf, read, knit and tat lace for towels and pillowcases. Mildred was a member of the United Church Women (UCW), IODE and the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Predeceased by her husband Rob Roy Flett (1981) a retired CPR station agent, her parents, her brother Bert Churchill, sisters in-law Norma Magee (Flett) and Jean Churchill, and brothers in-law Greg Hughes and Dave Magee.
Mildred will be sadly missed by her loving family. Children Peggy McGrath (Larry), Ivy VanAlstine-Flett (Karl) and Larry Flett (Sharon); grandchildren Stephanie Arsenault (Torrey), Dwight VanAlstine, Kelly Khairallah (Ramsey), Robert Flett (Colleen), Julie Tapley (Mike) and Terry Pollard (Jerry); great grandchildren Isabella, Lexi, Marcus, Wesley, Jaeden, Ian, Gavin, Evelyn and Addison as well as her sister Donna Hughes, and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. (28 Main St North, Grand Valley, ON) on Friday January 3, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. A reception will be held at the conclusion of the service. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens (2700 Kingston Rd, Scarborough, ON M1M 1M5) following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
