Obituary of Katie O'GORMAN

May 31, 1982 - December 22, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kathleen (Katy) Bartle (nee O’Gorman) in her 43rd year.

Kathleen passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and dear friends on December 22nd, 2024. Katy is survived by her husband of 13 years Dave Bartle; son Nolan and daughter Lucy; mother Iris Wood (predeceased by her father Robert O’Gorman) and step-father John Wood; brothers Joseph and Joshua O’Gorman, and step-sister Lori Wood; In-laws Lynn and Dale Bartle; brother-in-law Robert Bartle and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Katy’s memory will always be cherished and celebrated by her beloved chosen family & dear friends. Katy lived her life with unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She was a loving wife to Dave and a devoted mother to Nolan and Lucy. Her children were her pride and joy.

Katy was also an exceptional teacher, an avid reader, a sunrise enthusiast, an involved member of the community, a spirited athlete, a lover of nature (especially camping) and truly an amazing person. Katy was a passionate athlete whose love for sports was evident from a young age. Katy consistently demonstrated an enthusiasm for competition while playing volleyball, hockey, basketball and baseball. Whether dangling a puck on the ice or swinging a bat on the field, she played each game with heart, dedication and a contagious spirit that left an imprint on all her teammates. She will forever be remembered fondly by her teammates as their one and only, “Gazelle”.

Katy continuously demonstrated her love for her community through her various fundraising initiatives including the local food bank and as school council chair at her children’s school. Katy’s upbeat outlook, tremendous strength, vibrant spirit and relentless positivity touched the lives of so many in our community. Katy’s legacy of compassion and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of those she inspired. Katy will be missed tremendously, but loved and remembered forever.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday March 22, 2025, from 11:00 am-4:00 pm at the Shelburne Legion, 203 William Street Shelburne, Ontario, L9V 3L6. Please join us to share a story, have a drink and celebrate Katy’s extraordinary life and the impact she had on us all. Katy prioritized family time and creating memories together at the beach or on camping trips. She always made an effort to be present and connected with those she loved.
