When I did my placement at Terry Fox P.S Katy was one of the first people to really welcome me and make me feel apart of the TFPS community. A few years later I was lucky to not only have her as a coworker but as a friend too. Katy made our school a brighter place, her kindness never went u noticed. My partner Chris was also very fortunate to know Katy. When he started at TFPS Katy was one of the first people he met as well. He will always remember how kind and caring she was in helping him feel comfortable at TFPS. I will never forget how excited Katy was when she found out we were dating. She called it a “ Terry Fox Love Story”. We didn’t get to spend that much time with Katy but the moments we shared and conversations we had with her will stick with us for a life time. She was truly an incredible woman, teacher, coworker and friend.
Love Molly and Chris

Q: How did you meet Kathleen?
A: I first met Katy when she joined our book club. The minute I met her I realized what an amazing, beautiful, smart and strong woman she was. We will miss her tremendously.

Katy Bartle was a special friend in my life, not someone I saw everyday or connected with all the time but someone whose love and laughter I knew was constant. We met at Forest Run where she had a palm tree with Christmas lights so I knew we had to be friends. We coached volleyball together and I remember her dancing to Justin Timberlake in practice. I remember her getting sunburned at track and field and us laughing on the bus home as we both appreciated inappropriate humour. She loved people and was so gentle and funny with even the hardest kids. I remember learning motherhood with her as I got pregnant not too long after she had Nolan. I remember her kindness when I drove to her place with postpartum. Through the years we would find joy in our visits and inevitable laughs. She’d share about singing “Country Road” with the kids on the way to school. We shared a love of music and soulful people. She connected me with her brother Joe when I ran my first Revolution Now event. She was always cheerleading her family and friends and it makes sense her Lucy is now a cheerleader too! She raved about Dave, especially through to cancer battle, and was always willing to have him share advice even when things were rough for her. I think of her every time I sing Darius Rucker songs, get my daily Bible app notification or see Mother Teresa’s poem “Do It Anyway”. I will remember her telling me to make memories and her last words to me “love, health and happiness always”. I can only imagine the gravity of loss her family is feeling. Know her love for you is unending and was all consuming - may that love live strongly in each of you even amidst this incomparable loss ❤️

Being her next door neighbour for the last 5 years we got to see and feel her love and passion for those around her. We feel blessed to have known her and will miss her.
