My sincerest condolences to Gord's family and friends. Gord was a great mentor, leader, and such a valuable asset to the CBSA. I will never forget the day he took me out on my first "road call" while working my new position as an Inland Enforcement Officer. I had no idea what to expect, the risk was high... He worked together and he helped me in remaining calm, guided me through each step of the process, and ensured our safety. I really appreciated his one on one guidance and expertise. He will be dearly missed.

With thoughts of Cousin Gord come treasured memories, burnished by the passage of time to warm, mellow hues.
Our not infrequent visits to the Heart Lake country home of Uncle Jack & Aunt Helen gave us welcome opportunities to enjoy time with our Morris cousins - playing ping-pong in the basement; spectating ice hockey games in a local arena; or watching holiday slide shows with a fire crackling in the living room hearth. Then a teenager, Gord was always an active, dependably enthusiastic participant in these occasions, as he was when we delighted to spend a few summer weekends with the Morris Clan at their Balm Beach cottage. There, without fail, Grandma Morris took pleasure in relieving us of all our pennies in card games played at the dining room table. Gord is fondly remembered for taking more than a fair share of our loot too.. always with a BIG smile!
Yes, treasured memories of happy times in the company of dear relatives. Fondly remembering a very special cousin, Gord.

Hey Cous, to be honest, I’m still somewhat reeling from the shock your death. I mean, Dude, you’re the youngest of the Morris/Ball clan; you’re not supposed to be the first of us to die! And, to be perfectly honest, I sure didn’t need your death as further proof that life develops in unpredictable ways. Yet, Gord, you’ll always also stand as proof for me that life is worthwhile, even though it’s so relentlessly unpredictable. I’ll never forget the way you always wanted to connect, always wanted to share, always wanted to relate and care. I know that my father’s passion for frequent moves (oh, that Uncle Wes!) meant that we just didn’t have a lot of time together in our growing years, but did I ever see your gift for connection when your mother, my Aunt Helen, was in her last days at the homestead on Heart Lake Road. In that sense, although the baby of the brood, you have always epitomized the very best of the characteristics that romp around in our shared Morris/Hendershot/Ball genes. Know that you are profoundly loved, Gord. Know that you are profoundly missed. Know that you have made a hugely positive difference and that I can’t wait to connect with you once again on the other side. Warren Ball

As a cousin of Gord (who is in the same age range) I do have some fond childhood memories. Because we lived so far apart, our times together were limited but when we moved back to Canada, our Moms, who were sisters, took advantage of a few opportunities to connect. On those special occasions we would use the church next door (which was also my Dads workplace) as our playground and enjoy the hours together playing ping pong as well as a large area to ‘hide and seek’. It was during one of those games that I realized how much chewing gum was under those pews but most importantly, how kind and gentle natured this boy, who was so close in age and genetics, really was. We were practically like strangers at that point in life and yet we had quite a bit in common. He was very comfortable to be around, and that is always how I will remember him ❤️.
To you Gord and your loving brothers, on behalf of all your “Ball” cousins, we send so much love, respect and sympathy.
Winona
