Obituary of Larry Allan McGUIRE
Larry Allan McGuire
April 9, 1943 – August 24, 2024
With sadness in our hearts, we said goodbye to Larry Allan McGuire on Saturday August 24, 2024, at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville at the age of 81.
Born April 9,1943 in Dawn Township, Lambton County, Larry was the son of George and Barbara McGuire. He is survived by sons Jeremy (Catherine) of Fort Frances, Clancey (Manon) of Amaranth and Morley (Deanna) of Amaranth and 6 grandchildren: Kurt (Hailey) of Thunder Bay, Chase of Ottawa, Jonah of Amaranth, Chad of Austin, Texas, Kaelynn of Barrie and Braedon of Amaranth. Also survived by one sister Doris Shaw of Chatham, one brother Donald (Patricia) of Thamesville and partner of 14 years Joan Richardson.
He is predeceased by his wife Willimene Black in 2010, sisters Helen McAlpine, Hazel Leatherdale, Vivian Thomas, Elaine Ito and brothers William, George and Bruce McGuire.
Larry attended public school in Dawn Township and continued at Colbeck when his parents moved there in 1953. He attended high school in Grand Valley for two years, before working in the plumbing industry for several companies. He then attended trade school in Toronto to receive his necessary licenses as a plumber/gas fitter. He worked for 34 years at Bryan’s Fuel before retiring in 2007.He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, camping and politics.
The family will receive friends at In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc (28 Main Street N, Grand Valley) on Wednesday August 28, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church (2 Water Street, Grand Valley) on Thursday August 29, 2024, at 12:00 pm with family receiving friends 1 hour prior to service. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice in Larry’s memory are greatly appreciated.
