I worked with Keaton at respite camp. He always came in smiling and happy. Especially when he got chocolate. His laugh was amazing and he was the sweetest kid/ adult . We will miss him so much

Brian and family,
So very sorry that you find yourselves navigating the loss of such a bright light. I'm at a loss for words of comfort.
It was always special seeing Keaton at the arena as a little person at playgroup, and later at day camp, or when he stopped in with you Brian. He was always up for a 'high 5', and a moment to connect.
It made my heart very happy to read that 'Herman the Worm' continued to be a favourite song for Keaton, and I do hope that he is somewhere very comfortably "sitting on a fence post chewing his bubblegum" and shining his bright light to keep your hearts warm.

Sweetest Keaton,
I spent a lot of time with you over the years and without a doubt, the fondest memories are when we locked into a connection together. You would grab my hand and we would look each other in the eye and I could feel you pouring your energy into me. You are pure love.

Q: How would you describe Keaton to someone who had never met them?
A: Keaton was a pure soul and his smile always made even bad days better. Loved to hear his mom sing and pray. I will always remember the joy/smiles on his face whenever mom Wendy would kiss him or whenever I called Mr Keaton Cook.

I was a nurse in the Emergency department at Sick Kids when Keaton was air transported from Grand Valley many years ago. I was also good friends of Brian and Wendy. I will never forget the love, concern and compassion and tenderness that this family displayed during that initial year after Keatons accident. It took so much strength. And Keaton will always love you for it.
Brian, Wendy and Kathy: You are an inspiration to all of us. Keatie is so lucky God chose you for his parents. As he runs around in the parks and plays soccer with new friends he has made in Heaven, he will forever be smiling down on you m, waiting very patiently for you to one day play ball with him wheelchair-free.
You changed my life forever, you made me a better nurse. May you have the courage to embrace your new found free-time for the second half of your lives.

It is in shock that I write my condolences to Keaton's family. We met Keaton as a toddler in Sick Kids and followed his journey of stabilization and recovery with our own daughter, meeting again at the MacMillan Rehab. site. Wendy and I passed many hours talking and supporting one another through those early stages sharing information and hope. When we discovered we lived not far from one another, we could get in a visit when both our busy schedules allowed. Those years were full of rehab. programs, operations, doctor's appointments,and schooling;; but each time we visited, Keaton was bright and smiling, loving his family support to encourage him to keep on shining. Keaton was a brave little boy right from the beginning. His courage throughout his struggles, his love of an adventure, an outing with a treat, and interacting with those around him, kept his light bright. His spirit and presence were a testimony in themselves of the determination and spiritual strength a little one can offer as a lesson to others. He valued his life and those around him. While time has passed seeing Keaton, since we moved out of the area, the memories of our time together have not faded. Keaton's presence amongst us will be dearly missed; but he has found his Place of Peace to add another bright star in the Heaven above.
