Celebration of Life
Obituary of David Russell GROH
November 3, 1949 - May 4, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that after a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Dad, David Groh has moved on and is in peace.
If you didn’t know him, he was a pretty simple guy. There were a handful of things that made him happy. A great fire to sit by, a beautiful beach/waterfront, cars… engines. And the most important of all his family and friends.
He was very blessed to enjoy these throughout his life; from getting paid to rebuild engines, travelling to enjoy some gorgeous waterfronts to name just a few… Muskoka, Key West to the Bahamas, the mountains of BC and Calgary. He only hoped we all would be lucky enough to enjoy some of these things. Really he just loved being able to spend time with those that meant the most.
Dad has always been there with a helping hand when we needed something done around our homes or with our cars, teaching us how to change the oil, how to do a brake job or caliper change, helping with wood working projects. Giving words of wisdom to guide us through the trials and challenges of life. Always a quiet constant there whenever he was needed, whether you needed to ramble on whatever was going on in our lives at the time and needing feedback or just needed an ear to listen. He was always there for us.
Anyone who has had the blessed privilege of meeting, knowing and spending time with him know he is leaving a pretty big hole in all our lives.
We ask you to honour Dad, Dave, David, Pops …..
Whenever you are sitting by the fire, have a beer for dad
At the beach, kick some sand for dad
At a lake, do a dive for dad
We will forever miss you, but know you are forever in our hearts and thoughts
Christine, Melanie (Jeff), Andrew (Kayla) and Jimi
In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Salvation Army in David's memory.
