Obituary of Joan Mary NIND
In Loving Memory of Joan Mary White Nind (nee Bell)
July 20, 1925 – September 16, 2020
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Joan will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 72 years, Johnny, and her parents, Jack and Lillian Bell, and her daughter-in-law, Sharon.
Loved always by her brother Dennis (Lillian) Bell and her children Carine (Dale Holland), Susan, Ryc, Ken (Sharon), and Judi Gallagher, as well as her nieces Melanie (Ross) Pitre, Joanne Bell (Terry Hiduke), Barbara Bell (Doug Moodie), Gloria (Mark) Beale, and nephew Jim (Lisa) Bell, and their children. Her grandchildren Jason (Nancy) Bolton, Nicole Bolton (Chris Taylor), Kerry Meegan (Eddy Ruyter), Kaelo (Levana) Gallagher, Jasmyn Gallagher, Dustin Gallagher (Flo Leung), Shannon (Dylan) Stuart, Catrin Hughes, and Joanna Hughes will miss their Nana, as will her 12 great grandchildren Devante, Kyla, Noah, Colton, Liko, Connor, Kali, Kaylem, Olivea, Ava, Piper and Avery.
Ahead of her time in many ways, Joan/Mom/Nana was aware of world issues and current events, loved her sports on TV and enjoyed a long and successful career in banking and computing. She remembered all our birthdays and other significant dates up until recent times and was the first to call with wishes of the day. She prided herself in being able to complete the Globe and Mail crossword every week, and loved a good game of trivia, because she would most often win. As an active member of Toastmasters International for many years, she achieved recognition and many awards, and served as a judge for international competitions.
We thank Grand River Hospital and the Freeport Palliative Care Unit for their loving care during the final stages.
In line with current restrictions, and in lieu of an in-person gathering, we will be holding a virtual Memorial Service. To receive further information and the link to attend, please email Nicole Bolton at jnmemorial2020@gmail.com and details will be forwarded.
Donation's in Joan's memory would be greatly appreciated and can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Hospital for Sick Children.
In Memoriam Fuenral Services Inc. has been given the honour to serve the Nind Family.
