Thank you so much to everyone involved today, it was everything grandpa would have wanted and then some. Our family may not be traditional or normal but everyone left smiling and thats exactly what he would have wanted. It may not have been traditional and we made it work despite the obstacles and thats exactly that family is about, and even more so thats what being a Reid is about and that's what everyone showed grandpa today.

Love ya to death dad. You know, i almost cried hearing kim describe you today. Seriously. Every nice thing she said about grandpa? I only learned, from witnessing it in you allllllllllll my life man, i went to write some words thismorning, and it was gonna go something along the lines of, i didnt know grandpa glen as well as i could have and that chance may be gone now, but i feel like i know him through my dad. You taught me never to leave an argument angry, you taught me to work hard like that, and consistently even if you feel like crap you push through for your family. I was even going to talk about his long work days, and his dedication to his simple floral delivery job that put food on the table for his family. A man of honour and respect. How he was a man of action, and valued follow through, and sticking to his word. I dont know all this for a fact because of spending time with grandpa, dad i know all this because i see what he instilled in YOU, and that? That had me almost crying there at that funeral. I also think grandpa got the exact funeral he would have wanted, down to the T, because it brought the family closer, even with bickering, rivalry, and things against people there, he wouldve wanted us to move past that, to forgive eachother, to work it out. And i know he wouldve because thats how you taught me to live life... the only way you know how. So it must have come from grandpa. People dont stick to such honourable habits in life without admiring someone who taught it to them, you must have admired him as much or more than i admire you dad. It put a lot of things into perspective for me. Made me think what i want my family to be doing at my funeral, how i want them to be around eachother when they all gather - honest, and fun, even if simple, even if theres arguments between people, it goes to rest for the family. Thats a part of my family im proud to preach i was taught. That no matter how much we bicker amongst ourselves, we can come together, for the good of the family and not just ourselves. Its selflessness at the highest level ive ever seen in my entire life, not what happened AT the funeral, but HOW it happened... tells me a lot more about the man than i ever knew, just in how everybody knew to act and put old quarrels at rest at the feet of something greater than themselves.
I feel closer to my family than i have since i left it. So does everybody else today. Even some of us who were never close. Your dad left a powerful legacy. Even if it was simple, sometimes the most powerful things are the simplest.
R.I.P. Grandpa Reid.

Glenn was one very special man! I remember being a new owner at the tender age of 20 and Glenn sat me down and told me that I had to stand up for myself and not be pushed around by salespeople that thought they could take advantage of my age. Glenn always updated us on Nancy and how things were going for her and then he would proudly update us on his sweet Andrew! I was so excited to finally meeting Andrew when he was off school and helping dad deliver flowers to me at Flowers By Lady Di. When I sold the store Glenn told me that flowers were a part of me and that I wouldn't be gone long. Boy were you ever right my dear friend.
Andrew, your dad was the kindest most gentle man I have ever met. He never had a mean thing to say and accepted everyone just the way they were. The floral industry lost a great man when he retired, but the world lost a great man on Monday.
Rest in Peace Dear Friend

Andrew, your Dad delivered our flowers for many years at Jo-Dee's Flowers and Gifts in Angus. Wendy and I met you several times when you rode along with him. He was the sweetest man, and I'm sure you will all miss him greatly.
With deepest sympathy,
Brenda Andrews
