Wade Dimock Patrick McNutt It is with aching hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Wade. Born May 9, 1955 to May 25, 2020 (just celebrated his 65th birthday) Son of Shirley McNutt (Clarke) and Ron ‘Chum’ McNutt of Truro Nova Scotia. Loving husband to Nancy McNutt for 35 years. They were each other’s rock for their forty- year ride together. Loving and Proud Father to Braedon (Laura Moulton), Matthew (Robyn Hagyard), and Aaron (Brittney Pasqualini) His BOYZZZ! Proud ‘Grumpy’ to Baron, Dani and Marshall McNutt. They always made him laugh. Missing his favourite companion pup Buster – his English Mastiff who was by his side every minute of every day. Many cousins, Aunts/Uncles (Nova Scotia - Aunt Betty, Georgia – Aunt Ardith/Haley -, Lindsay- Uncle Roger/Linda, California – Uncle Wes/Lise, Uncle Bill, Newmarket – Aunt Marie) So many loving cousins. Cherished friend to so many and remembered by all the lacrosse families he met over 33 years of watching and coaching. They were ‘brothers from another mother’. You know who you are. Wade was born in Etobicoke, and as a child spent numerous summers in Truro Nova Scotia at his Gram’s home. As an adult, he attained his certification in operating heavy equipment from Sheridan College. At 19 years of age he hitchhiked and jumped trains making his way to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1975 and stayed for 5 years mining gold, tungsten and building the Yukon highway. Life brought him back to Etobicoke in 1980 where he met his wife Nancy. Together they raised their three handsome boyzzz in Caledon East (10 years) and finally in Mono. (28 years) Wade had a huge heart and an unmatched adoration for his boys and within 5 minutes of talking to him, you would know it. Every time he greeted his boys, a hug and kiss were always in order. Nancy loved how he loved their boys. His passion for watching his boyzzz Braedon (Bugg), Matt (Chief) and Aaron (Ace) play hockey and lacrosse for over 30 years, was highlighted when he took the family to Calgary where Matt won the MINTO CUP. (2008) Lacrosse did not stop there as he continued to watch them play with the Orangeville Northmen Masters Jr. team until Covid19 cancelled this season. His nephew Justin also played on the team, which allowed him time to visit with his only sister Corey and brother in law Scott. He had his favourite corner at the Tony Rose Arena and his voice could be heard at the start of the game yelling BOYZZZZZZ! He was an avid Boston fan and even flew the Boston Bruins flag. (Wade we won’t hold that against you)! Wade worked for the Region of Peel for 30 years (Waste Management) and was to retire May 31, 2020. He would have been honoured to know the Region of Peel flew the flag at half-mast in his honour. He had life-long friends from the Region of Peel. He loved exchanging stories with Braedon and Aaron who also work with the Region of Peel(Roads). He was so proud to see Matt complete his millwright apprenticeship this year after 4 years of hard work. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he would be thrilled to take them for a tractor ride, play checkers, colour, read or watch movies with them. Grumpy and Granny’s door was always open for a visit from Baron, Dani and Marshall McNutt. Rarely a day would go by that he wouldn’t ask his wife Nancy “have you heard from the boys today” and looked forward to their Sunday family dinners. Family was everything to Wade and he wasn’t shy to tell you. He had numerous friends that he enjoyed visiting on a weekly basis including his Thursday pool night. He was a great storyteller and nailed the punchline every time. The annual Marshall family picnic would include antics and laughter as he entertained his 40+ nephews and nieces. He wouldn’t have a ‘drink’ but rather a ‘cocktail’ when he was with family or friends. Those who knew Wade knew he would always ‘tell it to you straight’. Wade had a sudden heart attack sitting in his favourite spot at home in his gazebo overlooking his property. His wishes were to be cremated and his immediate family and good friends Beth + Tom, were able to have a simple service at home to say good-bye as he was taken away with The Tragically Hip being played loudly (The way he liked it) in his honour. One last call of “BOYZZZ” could be heard as his dog followed the van down the driveway. A huge “thank you” to Randy Mugford from (In Memoriam) doesn’t seem enough. Randy treated the family and Wade with class and dignity. His compassion and kindness for the family was greatly appreciated at such a difficult time. As an atheist, Wade strongly believed we all should treat others the way we want to be treated and life would be simple. Anyone who knew him, knew he was a “What’s mine is yours, kind of guy”. He will be greatly missed by so many, as seen by the 100’s of wonderful messages and pictures being shared. Thank you to the ambulance crew and Sgt. Paul Beaton and PC Kayla Graham who were a huge support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Orangeville Minor Lacrosse league would be appreciated for the purpose of allowing a young child to play lacrosse who may not otherwise afford it. Lacrosse brought so much joy to Wade and Nancy’s lives, and he wanted to see other children have the same opportunity. A celebration of Wade’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced. In the meantime, please put on some Tragically Hip and lift a ‘cocktail’ to honour Wade. As Vera Lynn sang; We’ll Meet Again, Don’t know where, don’t know when, But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day. Good-bye Wade, we love you and may you rest in peace.
