As we write it is so difficult to find the right words to express how we feel .... it feels like the world just seems little less bright and little less wonderful without you.
Eleanor Roosevelt said it best when she said that: “Many people will walk in and out of your life but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.”. Mars has left footprints that will never fade in all our hearts.
Amazing, wonderful, warm and full of spirit, Mars was a truly exceptional gentleman who lived a remarkable life. We will remember the twinkle in his eye, his quick wit and his profound love for his Hazel.
It has been our privilege to call him a friend, to have shared moments with him and to have created lifelong memories together. Thank you Mars, for bringing us such joy.
Hazel our thoughts are with you constantly; remember we are here you now, tomorrow and in the future. Draw strength from Mars, he is watching out for you.
Mars, as you start your next journey we think of a sailors salutation and wish you fair winds and following seas.
Love
Janet and David

Dear Hazel,
What a perfect partner you found in Mars. Your two were always so beautiful together and the two of you consistently shared the same message of love, hope and kindness. So true that Mars lit up a room when he spoke thanks to his compelling way of weaving a sentence together and also of connecting with people from all walks of Life. Quite simply, we were always comfortable with Mars - he had a way of putting people at ease and this made all those who met him feel important and above all, accepted. May your many wonderful memories come to replace the grief that you feel now and may God Bless You in your new journey to inspire one another from two levels of the Spectrum of Life.
Love always and forever and thank you to the GOd of our understanding that Mars does not suffer anymore, Sincerely, Karyn, Scott and Kasey Dean x0x0x0x0x0. . .

Mars, Sweet, kind, caring, gentle and very witty Mars... How you will be missed. You brought such joy when you came to visit us at the dental office. Our chats & short strolls down to the hallway talking about brandy & so many of your journeys. I am thankful to have known you. Rest In peace my friend.
Hazel, my deepest condolences to you. You & Mars made my day everytime I got the chance to see you. I look forward to seeing you again & cherish the memories we made. Xo

Took a liking to Mars instantly I met him on their first visit to Maine. He had a devilish twinkle in his eye, razor sharp wit, laughed well, quick to grasp stories - both funny and serious. Had the privilege of spending quality time with him around the fire pit and those memories will last because of his unique personality which others on this forum recall as well.
Mars - wonderful to have met you. You have enriched my life.

Mars was a great friend for many years. I will truly miss him.
Cheryl and I looked forward to our trips and visits with the two of you. Our conversations were always relaxed and enjoyable. I cherished every minute we spent together. Playing Skip-bo, discussing philosophy, physics, politics, anything.
Too many memories to share. From our first meeting at the 'cottage' on highway 9, going to the movies, dinners, Gananoque, roasted lamb, turkey dinners, business, just too many memories. Mars shaped me into the man I am today.
Hazel. We have both lost someone precious to us. Right now, you are probably overwhelmed. Reach out to me when you feel like talking.

MARS! A great neighbour and a true friend who was in our lives far too short a time. His humour was witty and his laughter was infectious....we will remember sharing many fine meals and many entertaining hours of Sequence and SkipBo.

Mars is one of those human beings that stood out among men. His charm, his wittiness, his cleverness, and intelligence, his kindness, his gentleness, his mischievousness, his coyness, his masterfulness – just a few of the qualities that made him a man I so admired and will forever be grateful our paths crossed in life. He was responsible for bringing my favourite dog into my life. Dakota was a rescue dog (half rottweiler, half black American lab) who he entrusted me with. Mars was one of the few people I know who would tolerate my “philosophizing” and engage me in robust conversation. He epitomized the “gentleman and a scholar”. I am even more grateful that Mars and Hazel were able to make the trip to Maine Sep 2019 so that I could introduce these two especially important people in my life to my husband James. Although the time spent together was short, Mars made quite the impression on James (as he did on pretty much everyone he met) and a bond formed for which James will always cherish in his memories.
This photo was taken of Mars and Hazel at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Maine on Sept 12, 2019. It was Mars' 86th birthday. Here he was, looking out over the Atlantic in the direction of his homeland, taking in all the goodness of life with the love of his life by his side.
We will miss you so much Mars! Forever in our hearts. Rest in His eternal peace dear friend!

Some of my favorite times during the work day was sitting with Mars while we chatted about just about everything you could imagine. He was an amazing storyteller and so knowledgeable. Over the last 5 years I learned so many things. I will miss our daily "meetings". XO
