Obituary of Ernie Staveley
STAVELEY, William Ernest (“Ernie”). Born on October 26, 1926 to William Thomas and Harriet Irinia (Watts) Staveley in Dufferin County, Ernie passed very peacefully in Orangeville's Headwaters Health Care Centre on January 17, 2015. He leaves behind sons Brian Ernest (Helene) of St. John's, Newfoundland, Grant William (Meredith Collins) of Cambridge, daughter Beth, and Karen Jones (Tom Melanson) of Orangeville, as well as brother Gerald (Sheila) of Dufferin County, and sister Geraldine (John) Prince of Orillia, and also grandchildren Darrell, Ryan, Ella, Cody, and Shaye. He was predeceased less than two months ago by loving wife Doreen Ruby (Spidle), also by son Eric Francis and brother Norman (Joyce). Ernie lived his long, productive life in the Orangeville-Mono region, where he managed a herd of Holstein Friesian cattle on Staverne Farm, served as Deputy Reeve and Reeve of Mono Township and Warden of Dufferin County, was active on the Board of the Orangeville Fair for many years, established and participated enthusiastically with the Mono Squares dancing group, and made countless, countless friends in this community he loved. He touched the lives of many and it is safe to say that Ernie and Doreen Staveley will both be missed.
We will celebrate Ernie's life at the High Country United Church (wheelchair accessible) in Camilla on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time, with the reception to follow. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS donations to High Country United Church, Headwaters Health Care Centre, the Dufferin County Museum & Archives or charity of your choice would be truly appreciated. Cremation has taken place, and the interment will be at a later date.
