It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Rideout, 77, of Brampton announces her passing on January 25, 2016. Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter Nancy by her side. Daughter of the late John and Suzanne (Ford) Fillier, Betty was born June 22, 1938 on Bell Island, Newfoundland. The loving wife of George, for 48 years, and adoring mother of David (Maureen) Fillier, Georgetown, James (Ann) Fillier, Horning Mills, and Nancy (Steve) Hodder, Shelburne. Proud grandmother of Nicole, Trevor, Brandon, Curtis, Lauren, Ryan, Kassandra, Kayla, Sarah and Alyssa. Survived by five brothers: Ronald (Rosalind), Fredrick (Irene), Abraham (Eve), Patrick (Sophoria), Ralph (Anna Marie) as well as six sisters: Florence (Gerald) Decker, Pearl (Melvin, deceased) Clarke, Nina (David) Rideout, Nancy (Jim, deceased) Butler, Rosalind (Paul) Whiffen, Diane (Blair) McIntosh, and sisters’ in-law Joan and Phyllis. She was predeceased by her brothers John and Raymond. Betty will be deeply missed by her sisters’ in-law Mildred Wright, Jean Winter, Winnie Rideout and Margaret (Gerry) Gibbon. Betty will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Betty’s wishes were to remember her as she was and requested there be no visitation or funeral. The family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff and volunteers at Bethell Hospice for all of their kindness and care. Memorial donations can be made to Bethell Hospice at www.bethellhospice.org Miss me - But let me go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love we once shared Miss me - But let me go For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone It's all part of God’s plan A step on the road to home When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me - But let me go
