Pille Piegaze (née Puhm)
Passed away peacefully on March 29, 2017 at the age of 74 at Brampton Civic Hospital with her husband and children at her side. Pille will be deeply missed by her husband Reinis, son Peeter (Annette) and daughter Kaarin (Mark), grandchildren Isabella and Madelaine, siblings Ilo, Aare and Reet, as well as her many, many friends.
Pille was born January 6, 1943 in Tallinn, Estonia to Arthur Puhm and Juta Heinloo.
Pille grew up in Toronto as part of the vibrant Estonian-Canadian community. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1966.
Pille married Reinis Piegaze on June 8, 1968 and moved to Shelburne, Ontario soon after. In 1982 they built their dream home in Mulmur where she lived for the rest of her life.
She was very active in the life of the community. In her thirties Pille helped establish the Shelburne Little Theatre. Later, her interest in fashion and textiles led her to co-found a successful clothing business with her good friend Susan Brown. Pille then became a teacher of English And Drama at Centre Dufferin District High School in Shelburne, where she worked until her retirement. In later years she was very involved with the Piecemakers Quilting Guild and volunteered at the Dufferin County Museum.
A memorial and celebration of Pille's life will be held at the Dufferin County Museum (Highway 89 and Airport Road) on April 9th, 2017 at 1:00 PM. All who remember Pille are welcome to come.
