Obituary of Alan George Wilbur

WILBUR, Alan George 64 of Cambridge, ON, chose to peacefully end his suffering with MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) at home surrounded by his family on August 31, 2017. Per Al "If you are reading this I am gone. The love and support of my family and friends eased my decision process." As Paul Anka wrote for Frank Sinatra, "I did it my Way."Loving father to Shawn (Jonathan Brothers), Sheri, Sandi (Rob Lambert), and Sara; grandfather to Cross, Quinn, Daria, Julianna and Summer; Wonderful brother to his rock Terry, John, Patty (Clare), Gene, Brian, Joanne (Mark), Greg (Alex) and Dave (Sue). He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Maureen Wilbur; two sisters Donna and Carol. Al loved socializing with friends and family. He especially enjoyed playing poker and reading. Always ready to lend a hand, Al touched many lives and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 23, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Cambridge Legion (Hespler), 26 Scholfield St., Cambridge, ON N3C 1Y3. As a memorial, donations can be made to Lisaard House or Canadian Cancer Society. Many thanks to the medical professionals who enabled Al to leave this life on his own terms.
