Although not a blood relative, Sue and Gary and Mike were like cousins growing up since we were very young. Like everyone at the celebration of life said, she had many good traits and was very good at everything she did. When she was at the Staffing Edge, I was interested in what her company did and partnering up with them. Sue was all business in the board room and had me sold in the first 5 minutes and I became a client of theirs.
My heart breaks for all your family and friends but as they say, she is in a better place now and I truly believe that. Keith you have a tough road ahead of you but Sue chose you as a life partner for a reason and we have faith that you will be strong for your children. God Bless You All. XO

Dear Keith, Jayme, and Alex,
I run a childhood cancer non-profit in Washington, DC. We started the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation after losing our only child to osteosarcoma. I cant imagine what your family is enduring, with both the loss of Shawn and now Sue.
I learned about Sue's passing from my friend, Neal Rourke, and want to extend my deepest sympathy. I realize there are no words that can adequately express such a huge loss in your lives. Though I never met Sue, or knew Shawn, your family's story is powerful and caused me to pause and reflect. I think it takes great courage to lose a child and then work through that pain by helping others, as Sue continuously did in her work for Meagan's Walk and writing the book, A Sippy Cup of Chemo. Her life has and will continue to make a difference through her book and Shawn's legacy is forever immortalized in those pages.
At the end of the day, regardless of how much Sue contributed to the world of childhood cancer, you would prefer to have her with you. She was taken way too soon and I know her absence will leave a forever hole in your hearts and minds. It just isn't fair and I am deeply sorry you are now left to face life without this special mom, wife, daughter, and sister.
I won't forget Sue's beautiful face and smile and her passion to help other families given her own painful loss of Shawn. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you from Washington, DC.

I am very sorry for your family's loss. Sue was an inspiration to other parents in the childhood cancer community. Our community has lost a leader in making a difference for families fighting childhood cancer. Her book let other families know they were not alone and gave insight into what the future may hold for those setting out on a journey to save their child's life. My grandson was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 15 months. He is 13 years old today, so I can relate with the emotional battle Sue when though and the courage she had to fight, keep going, and help others. I can not however relate to losing a child and the strength that she must have had. I do not know what that would do to our family. It is my wish that Sue's family knows the impact Sue had in the Childhood Cancer world. Sue was an incredible writer, one of the best in the advocacy world. She could take a topic that was so difficult and heartbreaking and write about it with grace and ease. She did this so that other parents who were going through childhood cancer could learn from her experience and advice and hopefully make their road a little smoother. She truly cared about making things better for others. Sue had an amazing generosity of spirit, she was always willing to dig in and help out when help was needed. She never boasted or took pleasure in her accomplishments...she was one of the most humble people I know. Sue's work in the childhood cancer advocacy world will never be forgotten. Her impact will live on.

Her mission at Meagan’s Walk was to unite children and their families, doctors, researchers and people world-wide, with a similar mission to be there for children with brain tumours.
Sue also knew ‘our hug’ was more than this. Despite this being enough.
Sue’s mantra was our common understanding. that Meagan’s Hug is “the gift” for all of us that it embraces.
And in the greater scheme of life, love wins. That is how you lived Sue.
You epitomized in your life, the meaning of selfless love. And hope.
You were a ‘gift’ to anyone who knew you. You gave your heart and soul to help others.
In this giving, ‘we’ are all better people in our own journeys for having known you.

We can do anything, when we put our hearts and minds to action. You are a beautiful example of this Sue.

Although not a blood relative, Sue and Gary and Mike were like cousins growing up since we were very young. Like everyone at the celebration of life said, she had many good traits and was very good at everything she did. When she was at the Staffing Edge, I was interested in what her company did and partnering up with them. Sue was all business in the board room and had me sold in the first 5 minutes and I became a client of theirs.
My heart breaks for all your family and friends but as they say, she is in a better place now and I truly believe that. Keith you have a tough road ahead of you but Sue chose you as a life partner for a reason and we have faith that you will be strong for your children. God Bless You All. XO

It is my wish that Sue's family knows the impact Sue had in the Childhood Cancer world. Sue was an incredible writer, one of the best in the advocacy world. She could take a topic that was so difficult and heartbreaking and write about it with grace and ease. She did this so that other parents who were going through childhood cancer could learn from her experience and advice and hopefully make their road a little smoother. She truly cared about making things better for others. Sue had an amazing generosity of spirit, she was always willing to dig in and help out when help was needed. She never boasted or took pleasure in her accomplishments...she was one of the most humble people I know. Sue's work in the childhood cancer advocacy world will never be forgotten. Her impact will live on.

I am very sorry for your family's loss. Sue was an inspiration to other parents in the childhood cancer community. Our community has lost a leader in making a difference for families fighting childhood cancer. Her book let other families know they were not alone and gave insight into what the future may hold for those setting out on a journey to save their child's life. My grandson was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 15 months. He is 13 years old today, so I can relate with the emotional battle Sue when though and the courage she had to fight, keep going, and help others. I can not however relate to losing a child and the strength that she must have had. I do not know what that would do to our family. Dear Keith, Jayme, and Alex,
I run a childhood cancer non-profit in Washington, DC. We started the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation after losing our only child to osteosarcoma. I cant imagine what your family is enduring, with both the loss of Shawn and now Sue.
I learned about Sue's passing from my friend, Neal Rourke, and want to extend my deepest sympathy. I realize there are no words that can adequately express such a huge loss in your lives. Though I never met Sue, or knew Shawn, your family's story is powerful and caused me to pause and reflect. I think it takes great courage to lose a child and then work through that pain by helping others, as Sue continuously did in her work for Meagan's Walk and writing the book, A Sippy Cup of Chemo. Her life has and will continue to make a difference through her book and Shawn's legacy is forever immortalized in those pages.
At the end of the day, regardless of how much Sue contributed to the world of childhood cancer, you would prefer to have her with you. She was taken way too soon and I know her absence will leave a forever hole in your hearts and minds. It just isn't fair and I am deeply sorry you are now left to face life without this special mom, wife, daughter, and sister.
I won't forget Sue's beautiful face and smile and her passion to help other families given her own painful loss of Shawn. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you from Washington, DC.

Sue would want to be the last person who would want us to mourn her passing.
Rather to celebrate the great gift of life.
And all that you were my dear friend, to so many people who knew you.
Her mission at Meagan’s Walk was to unite children and their families, doctors, researchers and people world-wide, with a similar mission to be there for children with brain tumours.
Sue also knew ‘our hug’ was more than this. Despite this being enough.
Sue’s mantra was our common understanding. that Meagan’s Hug is “the gift” for all of us that it embraces.
And in the greater scheme of life, love wins. That is how you lived Sue.
You epitomized in your life, the meaning of selfless love. And hope.
You were a ‘gift’ to anyone who knew you. You gave your heart and soul to help others.
In this giving, ‘we’ are all better people in our own journeys for having known you.
Meagan’s Hug will continue to soar in honour of you now, my dear friend.
We can do anything, when we put our hearts and minds to action. You are a beautiful example of this Sue.
