Obituary of Ches Cotton

COTTON, Ches (Chester Kenneth Garfield) March 20, 1935 - May 21, 2018 Ches passed away peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville after a short illness at the age of 83. He was surrounded by family with a Gordon Lightfoot concert playing in the background. Ches was the beloved husband of Marge (nee Thwaites) and the loving father of Brad (Louise), Cindy McLean (Al) and Kent. He was the cherished grandfather of Chandler (Carey), Logan, Michaela Smith (Jordan) and Rayne Cotton; Paul (Lindsay), Michael (Angie) and Nicholas (Lauren) McLean; Katie Cotton Graham and Kurtis Cotton. He was a very proud great grandfather of Sawyer and Maisie Cotton; Rory, Brooklyn and Emmett McLean; Evan and Alexandra (Alex) McLean. Ches was predeceased by his parents Thomas (1950) and Ethel (nee Duffy) (1969) , brother Herb (2015), sister Irene Rankin Thayer (2009), and brothers-in-law Dean Rankin (1968) and Jim Thayer (2016). Ches lived all his life in Orangeville and worked for Ontario Hydro (Georgian Bay Region) for 38 years. He spent many years playing and coaching both hockey and lacrosse. In 2008, Ches was inducted into the Orangeville Sports Hall of Fame as an athlete and a builder for lacrosse. A Memorial Celebration of Ches' Life will be held on Friday May 25th,2018 from 1:00 P.M - 4:00 P.M. at the In Memoriam Life Celebration Centre, 633419 Highway 10, Mono, Ontario with Words of Remembrance taking place at 2:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The War Amps would be appreciated by the family. .
