Obituary of William Edgar Ramsey

Obituary On November 1, 2018 at 3:30 in the afternoon William Edgar “Ed” Ramsey slipped away peacefully. He was 96 years old. Ed was born in Bracebridge Ontario to devoted parents Billy & Rita Ramsey and had a younger brother, Doug. Like his father and his younger brother, Ed volunteered for the War, was an Engineer and upon his return home joined the Masons. Brother Ed was a Mason in good standing for 69 years and retired from Toronto Hydro after 38 years. I am so grateful for the many childhood memories I have of my Grampa; he loved to dance and listened to big band music, he was a sore looser at cards, always had a handkerchief and a comb in his pocket and a twinkle in his eye; a cheeky comment and a sweet smile (and a sweet tooth!) were always at the ready. Ed was a devoted husband to Leone Treble Ramsey (Sept 13, 2002) and a loving father to his daughter Judy Miller (Bill). Ed was a doting grandfather to Jeff Miller (Aymi) and Melissa Issler (Eric). Ed was an extraordinary Great-Grampa to his 5 great grandchildren: Maxwell, Emily, Nicole, Andrew and Matteus. Our family is very thankful for the kind & loving staff at Peterborough Manor who helped care for him in his last days. For all of their hard work and devotion to the residents and their families. Their kind touches and soft words of comfort, for both my Grampa, and our family, did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. He will be greatly missed by all. My Grampa’s wishes were clear: no fuss and no funeral service. He felt we had better ways to remember him and spend our time; to do some good with it.
