Obituary of Peggy Kingdon

KINGDON, Peggy Peggy Kingdon, loving wife, mother, sister, daughter; loyal friend; quilter and sewer; collector of pottery; advocate for children; taker of photos; strong and unwavering; humble and generous. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Peggy, who passed away January 2, 2019 at Wellington Hospice, just a week shy of her 71st birthday. She was loathe to leave behind her husband Jim, sons Andrew and Neil, daughters-in-law Kelly and Danielle, and grandchildren Liam, Eva, Maggie & Graeme, mother Margaret, and sister Jane. Peggy loved her family more than anything, and was blessed with brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews whom she all adored. Peggy also had a circle of very dear friends who were the family she chose - spending almost five decades together raising their children, sharing their lives, and building memories - a New Year's Eve was never wasted, making resolutions and plans to grow. Peggy knew how to make each person in her life feel valued and special; though don't be fooled - if you were customer service staff in error (or she thought you were), she could put you in your place with a glance. She did not suffer fools, and knew how to get stuff done. Peggy always accepted challenges with dignity and perseverance, doing what needed to be done to move forward in a constructive way. She would quietly fix any problem, sometimes without you even asking for her help; her family & friends learned to watch what they mentioned in her company, because they knew there was a good chance Peggy would make a call or find something in a store, providing a solution without hesitation. Thoughtful and generous, and tenacious, too. Peggy's was a life well loved, and our community has lost a dedicated champion. Though her burden is lifted, our grief is great; and she can finally rest, in the bounty of our love and gratitude. A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, 2:00-4:00 pm at the Pine Meadows Recreation Centre, 8473 Wellington Rd. 19, Belwood.
