Obituary of Donald Fletcher Patterson

Obituary Donald (Mike) Fletcher Patterson Passed away in his 96th year at Hanover and District Hospital Saturday, May 18, 2019, beloved father of David (Nancy) of Nanoose, BC, Jane Watch (Don) of Hanover, and Rob of Hillsdale. He will be missed by his grandchildren Jill, Mike, Sara, Ian, Andrew and Valerie and his great grandchildren Deione, Jordan, Cru and Julian. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marg in 2006. Mike grew up in Orangeville and upon returning from the war went to work in the family furniture business Dalton Patterson and Sons. Mike was an active community member serving on Town Council, Chamber of Commerce, Hydro Commission, Orangeville Lions Club and the Orangeville Legion to mention a few. Upon his retirement Mike and Marg spent summers at their cottage in Point Clark, and wintered at their home in Florida. Eventually they settled in Hanover to be close to their daughter Jane. Mike was a comedian at heart and was called upon to MC at numerous events over the years. He could deliver a joke with impeccable timing and loved to entertain. Our Father was a loving kind man. He has put a smile on many a face over the years. We will miss him greatly but are comforted knowing he is back in the arms of his forever love Marg.. Our heartfelt thanks to the Staff of McVean Lodge in Hanover for taking such good care of our Father for the past 11 years. A Memorial Service will be held in Orangeville at 1 PM, Saturday July 13, 2019 at Tweedsmuir Memorial Presbyterian Church.
