Sandra Nora Ambrose

November 13, 1952 – October 25, 2024

Sandra Nora Ambrose (nee Vaillancourt), aged 71, passed away on October 25, 2024, at Trillium, Credit Valley Hospital, as a result of a sudden illness. Sandra passed away surrounded by her loved ones. 

Sandra was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

Sandra was born on November 13, 1952, in Pembroke, where she spent her formative years. She is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Mae Vaillancourt, whom she loved dearly. Sandra will be remembered by her sisters, Marian (George), Deborah, Heather (Bill), Tracey (Farion), and her brother, Guy. She is predeceased by siblings Roy (Dianne), Peter, Clayton, Leanne (Uwe), and Brother-In-Law, Cal. 

Sandra moved to the Greater Toronto Area after leaving Pembroke. Eventually, she settled in Mono Township, where she spent her retirement. Anyone who knew Sandra quickly realized her willingness to help others. She was a hard working and kind soul, who would eagerly give you the shirt off her back. 

Sandra is survived by her loving husband and “other half”, Wayne Ambrose, to whom she was married for 34 years. Wayne was not only her husband, but also her best friend. Sandra enjoyed nothing more than joking around with him and going on adventures, including endless road trips and Bingo Nights together.  

Sandra was a devoted mother of two children, Bobbi Jo (Peter Sr.) and Allen. Sandra dedicated herself to them and was incredibly proud of both. 

“Mema” is survived by her grandchildren, Peter Jr. (Carley), Iris (Ahmad), and Holly (JD). She is survived by her beloved great-grandchildren, Raiden, Kaelyn, Jack, and Kipper. Sandra is predeceased by her great-grandson, Russell. Her great-grandchildren brought her immense joy in her final years. Mema will be greatly missed on weekend play dates with her bag full of treats. 

Sandra will be lovingly remembered by many friends, family, and colleagues. Her memory will be forever cherished by all who knew her. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. (28 Main St. North, Grand Valley, L9W 5S7) on Saturday November 2, 2024, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

The Graveside Service will be held at the Saint Columba’s Cemetery (23 Tv Tower Rd, Pembroke, ON K8A 6W6) on Monday November 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sandra’s name, to the Cancer or Heart & Stroke Unit at your local hospital.
