Obituary of Clement MacLEAN
June 7, 1932 – June 19, 2024
Clement MacLean, 92, of Orangeville, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the Shelburne Residence on Wednesday June 19th, 2024.
Predeceased by his wife Betty MacLean (2013), his daughter Marie Bell (2023), as well as his parents Anne and Samual and siblings James, John, and Marion.
Loving father of Angela Nichols, Fiona (Bob) Clevely, David (Debbie) MacLean. Dear brother of Jenny McSeveney, Matty Jane McCowan and brother-in-law Neil McGregor. Cherished Papa of 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Clem was born on June 7th, 1932, to Samual and Anne MacLean in Kilmun, Argyllshire Scotland, and was the eldest of 6 children. At 17, Clem joined the Merchant Navy in service of his country. He later joined BOAC, embarking on long-haul flights around the world.
In 1956, Clem met Betty Nippard in England, where they quickly fell in love. Clem and Betty would go on to get married in 1957 and have 4 children together.
Clem always had a deep commitment to his community and was a founding member of the Anglo Canadian Club, President of the Rotary Club, and a member of the Salvation Army.
Clem was a pillar in his community, and in the lives of his family, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
As per his wishes, Clem has been cremated and a private service will be held in Scotland once arrangements have been finalized.
