Obituary of Joan Marie CORBETT
Joan Marie Corbett (Bruce)
November 14th, 1937 - April 2nd, 2024
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother Joan Corbett on Tuesday April 2nd, 2024, surrounded by her family after a six-month battle with cancer at Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne, ON.
Cherished daughter of the late Ivan Bruce and Gladys Bruce (Watt) of Grand Valley, and sister of the late Don Bruce of Toronto. Beloved wife of the late Reg Corbett of Grand Valley. Cherished Mother of Laurie of Grand Valley, Patti (Mike) of Orillia, and Andrew of Waterloo. Grandmother to Jamie, Aaron, Brandon, Krista (Jason), Matt (Bailey), Nick (Alanna), Josh (Kayla). Great Grandmother to Daniel (predeceased), Nathan, Cameron, Logan, Zira, Ava and Rosalie-Joan.
Joan grew up on the Main Street of Grand Valley where her parents owned the local telephone company. Joan graduated from Guelph General School of Nursing Guelph ON, then settled into married life with Reg. They started off living and working in London, ON, then back to their hometown of Grand Valley, ON. Joan’s kind and caring nature allowed her to thrive for many years as a Registered Nurse first in London in a Sanatorium looking after TB patients, then to the DOC position in a nursing home, then to Dufferin Area Hospital Orangeville as an Operating Room nurse. Joan spent the majority of her career working as an OR nurse at Dufferin Area Hospital, then finished her career at the new hospital Headwaters Health Care Centre.
Joan was a people person who loved her family, and people in general. She loved sunny afternoons on her patio by her pool chatting with family, friends and neighbours. Joan loved her dogs and had many over the years, she loved to read, garden, play solitaire, and keep in touch with friends through social media.

Funeral Service will take place at In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. located at 28 Main Street North, Grand Valley, On L9W 5S7, on Saturday April 13th, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service time.
There will be a private family interment at Grand Valley Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to Headwaters Health Care Centre - Operating Room, Lord Dufferin Centre Retirement Residence or Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home.
