Donald (Don) Raymond Howard

February 18, 1951 - January 14, 2024

With very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donald (Don) Howard. Don passed peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Son of the late Edward and Ella (née Burns) Howard. Beloved husband of Janet (née Brown) Howard. Loving father and father-in-law of Evan and Melissa, Drew and Robyn, and Clinton and Adrienne. Devoted grandfather of Elysse, Kai, Hayden, Audrey, and Ella.  

Don had an extremely successful career spanning thirty years in the publishing industry. His persistence and tenacity led to several promotions, with his biggest personal accomplishment leading Penguin Canada as President and COO before his retirement. Don lived a very full life and was always the center of any social engagement. From hosting family events in Caledon and Orangeville to winters away in Florida, Don was a popular and gregarious man and was well known for his bellowing laugh. He loved his music and would often be heard serenading family and friends with his voice and guitar, and in later years, gained an affinity to his banjo. 

He will be surely missed and his family would like to recognize his caring and dedicated healthcare team at Headwaters that made his months long stay more enjoyable for both Don and his family.

The family will be holding a private gathering in Don’s memory.
