Obituary of Helmut KOELL

August 31, 1934 - September 24, 2023

After a full life at the age of 89, Helmut Koell passed away peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on September 24, 2023.

Helmut was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1957 with a vision of owning a ranch in Alberta. He soon realized that this was not so easily attainable at the time and decided to pursure a career in engineering. He was hard working and became very successfull in his field. In his retirement years, Helmut became heavily involved in the arts. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for nature which he demonstrated in his many woodcarvings and paintings.

He was devoted to his family, and those who knew him, will forever remember him as a kind, compassionate, loving and gentle soul with appreciation for not only the large moments in life, but all the little ones as well. Helmut leaves behind his loving wife, Marianne, his "sweetheart." They had a lovely life together, with many cherished memories of travel and adventure. A truly compatible couple, married for just under 60 years. He was a precious Dad to Susan and a loving Opi to Bianca, commonly referred to as his "favourite daughter" and his "favourite granddaughter" they were his pride and joy. Helmut also leaves behind a cherished nephew, Perry and his wife Silvi. He will forever be missed dearly by his loved ones as well as well as his many friends.

A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family.
