Obituary of John Arthur CURRIE
CURRIE, John Arther
On July 11, 2023 John Arthur Currie passed away after a four year battle with cancer.
He was married to Gail for over 60 years and it was impossible to find a picture of him without his arm around her. They enjoyed so many things together, family, home and travel. He had a wonderful smile and great sense of humour. To meet him was to love him.
Golf was one of his many passions (hole in one in 2019). He enjoyed playing cards and bingo at the Orangeville Senior Centre.
He was a heavy equipment operator in road construction for over 45 years. He enjoyed his work, as well as his co-workers. It was a difficult decision to take retirement, but he did and enjoyed the many new adventures it brought.
We spent many winters in Florida but in 2015, we were blessed with our first Great Grandchild with three more to follow. They became our love, warmth and year-round sunshine.
John was a caring, loving, generous good person and these values will live on in his two daughters: Cheryl Anne (Frank McAlpine) Rhonda Michele (John Eppenberger). He was a great role model for his five grandchildren and their accomplishments: Jeremy Eppenberger, John-Corey McAlpine (Jade Adsetts), Amber Eppenberger (Josh Breski), Hailee McAlpine (Kevin Helm), Brandon Eppenberger.
The highlight of his last seven years was the birth of 4 great grandkids. The oldest two spent many play hours with him. The two little ones will miss out on these wonderful memories that can’t be bought!

His last few days were spent at Matthews House in Alliston. What an amazing place and we cannot thank them enough. As expression of sympathy, please keep Matthews House in mind.
John is survived by an older brother Barry of Brussels, ON, and a younger brother Doug of Caledon, ON. Many family members will be saddened by his passing.
At John’s request, he will be cremated and a small memorial will be held at a later date at the Eppenberger farm in Mulmar, where John designed a garden with a red maple tree.
John, rest in peace knowing you were loved by everyone you knew.
