Joyce was born in Kent, England on December 11, 1918. Her family moved to Canada when she was an infant. They settled in St Anne de Bellevue, Quebec. Joyce was the oldest of 10 children. She served in WWII as a cook in the army. She was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15 in Brampton for over 50 years. She was involved in the colour party, ladies auxiliary, and was sergeant in arms. She was a celebrated volunteer for the city of Brampton for many years. One of her greatest claims to fame was selling Avon for over 50 years!
Joyce was a strong, independent opinionated woman when being one was not accepted. This strength carried her through her 105 years. She was a quiet survivor who had lots to say, but never complained about her own circumstances. We will miss her stories and the laughs she gave us. Many thanks to the PSW’s and nurses at Greenway Rivera, who took care of Joyce . They all spoke so highly of her. Thank you to Randy and Sabrina at In Memoriam. You always answer questions and handle details with care & compassion.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life will be at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15, located at 80 Mary Street Brampton, ON L6W 2R3 on Sunday February the 12th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. There will be a Legion Service at 1:30 pm.
