In Memory of Stuart Eddy
1938-2022
EDDY, Stuart “Stu” – Passed away peacefully in his 83rd year on Monday, April 18, 3:15 p.m. at his home in Wasaga Beach, surrounded by family and friends after a brave battle with cancer. Stu leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years Mary Ann, his son Michael (Laura), daughter Michelle (Chris), Mary Ann’s children Chris (Kim) and Lindsay. Stu loved the quality time spent with grandchildren Melanie (Hannes), Marlee (Ryan), Abby, Geordan, Ruthie, Mya, Mikaela, Blake, David and Joey. THE BEST PAPA GETS PROMOTED TO GREAT PAPA……with recent family additions Lyra, Laney, Max and Sterling. Always by his side up until his final moments was his loving companion Maddi.
Stuart was born on July 20, 1938 in Scotland, Ontario to Earl Bronson Douglas and Ethel Helen Eddy (nee Huffman). Siblings included Doug (Barb), Helen (Gord), Bev (Lilianne), Betty (Reg), and Sherwood (Carey). Stu will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Carole, and sister’s Betty and Helen, and brother Bev.
Stu graduated from Weston Collegiate in Toronto in the late 1950’s, and took up a career in banking and accounting, retiring as a business executive in Brampton.
Throughout his life, Stu always enjoyed road trips, visiting his many friends and family at their homes and cottages, and playing cards. He made life-long friends through The Brampton Board of Trade, where his wife Mary Ann served for three decades. His love of nature and the water was fulfilled when he moved to the Wasaga Beach after retirement, where his life consisted of deck parties and bon fires. Memories of being with his grandchildren included camping, dance recitals, and many sleepovers at the “beach house”. Who doesn’t remember Stu’s fire pit questions! He cherished the friendships he had, was so loved. He will be deeply missed.
Special thanks to Brampton Civic Hospital Oncology, Stu’s family doctors, In Memoriam Funeral Services Randy Mugford and staff, and friends and family for their continued supported.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 11, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Wasaga Sport Park (1888 Klondike Park Road, Wasaga Beach).
