As youngsters, the 3 McPhedran girls loved having a visit with our 4 Pope cousins. We were a keen audience for Gordie and laughed non-stop as he delighted in entertaining us. They were the brothers we didn’t have. It was a pleasure to get to know them as adults when 4 of the 7 ended up studying at McMaster at the same time.
We are so glad we continued to get together every summer at the Pope Reunion and spent time reminiscing and enjoying visiting with our extended families. Gordie continued to humour us even when we continually asked him to retell the same funny stories.
Our family tree doesn’t look the same anymore. You will be deeply missed Gord.
Love from Marg, Sam and family

“A cousin is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.”
From the happy times spent laughing and playing at Grandma and Grandpa Pope’s to the get togethers and reunions of more recent years, you will be remembered with love.
Missing you always,
Mary Lou and Bryon

Gordie was a great friend of mine for 52 years. We met in Grade 10 at Mayfield and enjoyed 4 years together playing in the band. Gord always had a quick wit and couldn’t believe how he could remember so many jokes. Nancy, Carol, Gord and I enjoyed years of dinners together in which the conversations were lively to say the least. He loved his family dearly as well as those Maple Leafs, maybe they can finally win a Stanley Cup in Gord’s memory. You can sum Gord up with Frank Sinatra’s song, “ I did it my way” and he sure did!
I will surely miss him.

Gord will be sadly missed by all of us at Caledon Mountain veterinary hospital.
Gord showed his soft side when talking about his dogs. We all knew that as long as his dogs were happy and healthy, then nothing else mattered to him.
Thanks for all of the great conversations we had Gord
Sincerely Dr John, and for all of those who knew him at Caledon Mountain Veterinary hospital.
