Obituary of William "Bill" George TRAVIS
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William George Travis at the Bethell Hospice in Inglewood on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at age 78. Bill, had resided in Langton and Port Dover, Ontario for the past 38 years while his daughter, Wendy Travis and son and daughter-in-law, Wil and Rose Travis, remained in Shelburne. He was very proud of all his grandchildren, Travis Bodmore (Melissa), Robyn Livingston (Wayne), Roni Travis (Kyle) and Bill Travis (Hannah) and all his great grandchildren. Although sometimes miles would keep them apart, he kept them close to his heart.
Bill was the only child of Barbara Swance and George Travis, George passed away when Bill was only 8 years old. Bill and his mom then moved to Jerusalem after his father’s passing to be with his grandparents, William and Lillian Hull and Bill was blessed to be baptized in the Jordan River while he was there. His mom remarried several years later to Ken Swance who became his stepdad and Ken loved him very much. Bill has predeceased his first wife Ruth Travis and his second wife Theresa (Terry) Travis.
Bill retired from his 30 year career of trucking which he has entertained people with countless stories of being on the road and was very proud that he had driven over 2 million miles and was accident free. He spent the last 13 years during his retirement mastering computers, the study of the mind and he loved to putter and fix anything he could get his hands on. He always said “where there is a will, there is a way” and if you knew Bill, it was his way. Bill will be missed by his close circle of family and friends. Special thanks goes to the wonderful staff at Bethell Hospice for your loving care and support this past week and also to Bill’s close friends, Scott and Marvin, whom he trusted implicitly.
There will be a Celebration of Life planned for the future, for close family only.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made in Bill’s honour to the Bethell Hospice Foundation in Inglewood.
