I’ve known Milton for about 35 years, having met and lived with him and Barbara on The Canada Farm intentional community. I have kept in touch with Milton through the years visiting him and Barbara in the various communities they lived in. Sun Run was one community where my husband and I would visit regularly as it was close to where we lived.
During one of our visits which often included lunch, there was a disagreement between Barbara and me about my food preferences. That day I was feeling rather sensitive and burst into tears and left the main building. While I was sitting on a log close to the main building trying to chill out, Milton was looking for me and sat beside me. He didn’t say a word but tenderly patted and rubbed my back. That simple compassionate gesture helped to calm me. He knew the right thing to do and had emotional intelligence. I so appreciated how kindhearted and loving he was and that memory will always stay with me. This was one of the many qualities I loved about Milton. It reminds me that I can do a similar gesture for someone else who’s hurting.
When Arthur, my husband, and I would visit, on occasion Milton and Arthur would play guitar and sing together. One of my favourite songs that Milton played was Sh Boom, Sh Boom by the Crew Cuts. It makes me smile remembering how much he enjoyed playing and singing that song.
Milton was like a big brother to me. He was one of the sweetest, most gentle and loving men I have met. Knowing him has enriched my life.

Milt and his family were a source of joy during my younger years. Milt was always kind, gentle and welcoming. Buddy, Lisa, and Sandy were nothing but fun and I eagerly awaited seeing them whenever we all met up and Gramma and Grampa's house in Connecticut. Sending the family warm thoughts.

I wish to send my thoughts and prayers to the family. I lived with Milt and Barb here at Whole Village over the last few years and wish to share a little story to illustrate Milt's drive and determination. I guess it was about 2 years back when his favourite cow Pheonix had just given birth to a new calf. Well wasn't Milt bound and determined to get that calf to suckle on Pheonix, who by the way wanted nothing to do with her new calf. I tell ya, there was no way I was going in the stall with those 3 but man o man, Milt 85 at the time, just grabbed a hold of that calf and practically wrestled him down to the ground to help the process of nature along. Milt sure modeled courage and caring big time. I really got how much he cared for beings in his life. Blessings Milt on the next part of your journey. Much Love, John
