Hello Friends,
Several of you have posted lovely comments on this site. Unfortunately, I do not have contact details for all of you, so I am pasting an e-mail that I sent out recently.
Thank You,
Hugh
When I started gathering my thoughts about thanking everyone properly I intended to scribble a note to each of you. Reality struck, and I realized I would never complete the task as there are so many of you who have been supportive during this difficult time. Hence, a bulk e-mail, and a sincere hope that I manage to include everyone.
There has been a constant flood of support for both of us from you from the time you learned about the challenge Rosemary was facing. Your e-mails and cards expressing thoughts and prayers, stories about Rosemary and her art were all welcome and appreciated. There were donations made in Rose’s memory, food and gifts to help us along, even a camp bed so I could stay in the room and help Rose out at night. The community care people helped immeasurably as the disease took its toll. The staff and volunteers at Matthews Place Hospice provided an environment that made Rosemary as comfortable as possible.
My (our) sincere and profound thanks to all of you.
The following is a poem Rosemary wrote while undergoing her first round of treatment, that expresses the hope and fear experienced by someone going through such a journey. It was entered in a literary contest sponsored by the Coldwater Legion, accepted, and published in their book.
Sunshine on your shoulder
By Rosemary Molesworth
You sit
on the sofa
smiling.
Sunshine on
your shoulder,
wig on straight.
Shiny earrings
matching
your shirt.
A carefully
presented picture
of health and happiness.
Holding hands,
we hope and pray
this is true.
I would like to close with a poem written by Dave Pounds.
She’s in her pots and all she threw
She’s in her pond and all she grew
She’s in our prayers and in our hearts
She’s teaching Angels potting arts
The wheel has stopped
The clay is dried
The kiln is cooled
Our eyes have dried
We know she’s gone
The tears have stilled

Dear Hugh
We were greatly saddened the hear of Rose's passing.
We have such wonderful memories of our time together. The long ago meeting at Sheridan began the friendship. Get togethers at your home, Lake Louise and the AGO helped keep us in touch over the years.
We truly fortunate to have met and known Rose. Our numerous pottery and fabric pieces fondly recognize her talent.
Love Susan and Neil

From Yvonne and Victor De Viller - Dear Hugh - we can only imagine how heavy your heart is and the hole within it...
Rosemary was a very special person and artist - we have several of her pottery pieces and in the spirit of the sense of
humour that she always had I had a drink of wine in my favourite mug that she made to toast her on her way to the peaceful place.

Hugh, I am sorry to read about Rosemary's passing. She was a lovely person and clearly a dedicated artist. I knew Rosemary and you from Science 44 co-op at Queen's and before that, met you, Hugh when we were teenagers through my Boyer cousins from Oakville.Their mom Ann Boyer is still alive at almost 96. Reading Rosemary's obituary while I'm sad to know she was only 70,it is evident that the two of you filled your lives together with purpose, grace, love and adventure.
May her memory be a blessing.
Carol Rogers, Queen's arts '73.

I was so sad to hear of Rosemary's passing. I remember her being so full of life and having fun practicing Tai Chi in our classes in Shelburne. She was such a force in all things she took on. Wishing you all the strength you need to go on without her. I'll keep her memory close and treasure the time she touched my life.

My deepest sympathy to you Hugh. The void in your life must be a vast chasm. I knew “Rosey” from the pickleball court. What a fun person she was to play with and against. I didn’t know she was so talented in other endeavours but she could sure handle the pickleball paddle very well. She will be missed by those who play.
A very beautiful Lady.

My dear friend , you are dearly missed . I’m so glad to have met Rose at Sheridan , 46 years ago. We shared a lot of good times …cherished memories that will fill the void I feel today and days to come. Rose had an incredible sense of humour that carried over in her pottery and shared with friends. Rose was that special person , that special lasting friend.
Today my kids ( grown adults) shared their stories of Rosemary with me.
Love and hugs to you Hugh, take care!

Dear Hugh,
It is incomprehensible to think that Rosemary is no longer here. My heart aches for you. You two were so close. You were definitely her rock. Together you completed each other.
I met Rosemary at Sheridan's SoCaD. Later we each spent time in different studios at Harbourfront. We still didn't know each other well. Then some time later just imagine my surprise to see the two of you walking on Broadway in Orangeville. I had moved there and you two had moved to Shelburne. It was the beginning of a great friendship and a lifetime of stories.
Rosemary touched so many people as friend, artist, helper, volunteer. She was a giving person and always there when others were in need.
For a special group of women, she brought us together and we formed the group "5" with our show "Quintessential", which we put on for 10 years. We were 5 + 1 . That was such a special time. Rosemary had a vision of our group and together we formed a special bond. We would have brainstorming sessions at Rosemary's place. But she always started off our meetings by getting each of us to talk about what was going on in our lives. We produced a memorable postcard for each show- so much so that people actually waited in anticipation of what the next one would be, especially after our much noted "Calendar Girls" one. Our final postcard with all 6 members, I think was the most fun I've had with a group of women. There was a lot hysterical laughter, especially when we all fell over while wrapped up together.
You both helped out Wayne and I when we were building our house. You were both there when I needed a shoulder. An image of a beautiful, smiling Rosemary will always be in my head. Maybe she can find Wayne and they can get a game of euchre together.
You are in my heart Hugh and Rosemary will always be there beside you.
Love, Kathryn
