Obituary of Odon Edward ZSIGMOND
Odon "Edward" Bela Zsigmond or as many knew him as Ziggy, 72, of Georgina, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on November 6th 2021. He passed away at Southlake hospital in Newmarket, Ontario, following a hernia surgery, surrounded by family.
Odon was born in the Hungarian town of Ovar (now Mosonmagyarovar). Odon immigrated with his family to Canada in the 1950's. He enjoyed many things throughout his life, his garden, scuba diving, the great outdoors, his boat, and his friends and family. He was a very talented and skilled craftsman. He was a very generous and caring person and would often open his home up to anyone in need. He was an extremely hard worker and very well respected by his colleagues.
The best way to describe this man would be to say he is durable. He survived stage 4 esophageal cancer and had a full recovery. Anyone that knew him knew of his great strength and perseverance bordering on invincibility. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Odon is survived by his ex-wife and dear friend, Irene and by his brother, Les. Cherished by his daughters, Tanya, Amanda and Nikita and by his sons, Philip (predeceased) and Josh. Proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Sarah, Alison, Sophia, Pearl, his grandsons, Gabe, Lucas, Evan, Jacob and great grandson Marshall.
He will be missed as well by his cat "Kit Kat".
As per his wishes, Odon was cremated in Grand Valley, Ontario. He will be interned at Assumption Cemeteries in Mississauga, Ontario, in a family plot. The family will be hosting a celebration of his life at his home in the spring of 2022 and asks that any donations made in his honor go to a local animal shelter.
"When we lose someone we love
We must learn
Not to live without them.
But to live
With the love they left behind."
