Obituary of David James BURNS

With his family by his side, David Burns passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2021. Loving husband of Kelly Welsh-Burns, and proud father of Katie Allen (Jason) and Sydney Burns. Beloved Papa to Ayden, Caleb and Aubrey (his little muppet) Allen. Son of Phil (2008) and Christina Burns. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Phil (Lori), Elaine and Andrew (Christine), and remembered by his many nieces and nephews. David spent the early years of his life living in Rexdale before moving to Brampton where he met his wife. Later on he and his wife Kelly moved to Grand Valley with their two daughters. David worked for Canada Post for 35 years before he retired in 2013. He was a hard-working man who took pride in a job well done. Upon his retirement David could be found spending weekends in Coboconk renovating Walt’s cottage or on the golf course every morning having fun with his golf buddies. The support from family and friends was much appreciated by David and his family. We cannot thank you enough during this time. David’s family is forever grateful to all of the healthcare workers for their roles in caring for him during the last 5 years. A special thank you to all of the nurses and doctors at Princess Margaret Hospital who were a part of David’s circle of care. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and Papa. His sense of humor, strong opinions and love of all things sports will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers donations would be greatly appreciated to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society. As per David’s wishes no formal funeral services will be held.
