Obituary of Irwin (George) SCOTT
Irwin (George) Scott
May 12, 1937-October 8, 2021
Irwin passed away peacefully at Dufferin Oaks on October 8, 2021. He is reunited in Heaven with his wife, Doris (2017), his son, Kerri (1982), his dog George (1991), his father, Joe (1977), his mother, Almeida (1999) and with his sister, Eyvonne (1993). He will be greatly missed by his daughter Kim and his only grandchild Olivia and her husband Jason. Irwin will always be remembered by his siblings-in-law Joyce (Allan Taylor) and Keith (Marjory Byers). He will be held dear in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews, family, relatives, and many friends.
Irwin will be remembered by many friends and coworkers from years in business at Scott’s Cash and Carry/Scott’s Do-It-Centre on First Street in Orangeville. He was a co-founding member of the Orangeville Jr. C Stingers Lacrosse Club, the Jr. C Stone Crusher Hockey Team, as well as both Sr. & Jr. Northmen. He was a proud coach and manager of many hockey and lacrosse teams.
Irwin could always be found at the arena sitting with his cronies above the Northmen dressing room chatting and enjoying the game. He sponsored many teams and players over the years and was always fundraising for many things in sports.
Irwin travelled a lot over the years to Cuba, Russia, Germany, Ireland and across Canada for many President & Minto Cups. He will be missed by many friends in Florida after 14 years of golf and sunshine and bringing back a U-Haul or two of Doris’s garage sale finds.
He was a life member of the Kinsmen Club. Irwin enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Orangeville Northmen, his desserts, especially butter tarts and ice cream and a few Crown Royal with coke. He adored and loved his BooBoo, Olivia.
He will be sadly missed by all of us.
Rest in Peace Poppa.
