Obituary of Janet DAVIDSON
Janet Lynn Davidson, daughter of Gwendolynn and Malcom Pett, passed away on October 5, 2021. She is survived by her mother, two sisters, Cathy (Martin) & Liz (Clark), a brother David (Nancy), three children, Douglas (Angela), Deborah (Chris) & Diana, and four grandchildren, Emily, Alex, Tyler & Malcolm. Janet grew up experiencing many parts of Canada because her father was a career Canadian Air Forces officer causing the family to move frequently. She had very fond memories of Winnipeg, MB, and Greenwood, NS in her childhood.
When the family was posted to Trenton, ON, Janet met her husband, John S. Davidson. In her married life, she found her social calling in volunteering with the Special Olympics & Special Hockey International. Janet took pride in driving a wheelchair school bus. Janet's affection for eastern Canada remained very strong in her later life, after divorcing John S. Davidson, she moved to Newfoundland and worked on the farms of Nova Scotia. In her retirement years, she returned to Etobicoke, ON, and engaged frequently with Rexdale Alliance Church.
As Janet's health started to deteriorate and her sister, Cathy, arranged for Janet to live at Richview Residence for Seniors, assisted independent living. This provided Janet with the support needed as she struggled with Diabetes and the early stages of Dementia. Once her conditions had advanced to where she could no longer live without assistance, she was placed in long-term care. She would spend her final years at Avalon Care Centre in Orangeville, ON, to be close to her daughter, Deborah. She will be held dear in the hearts of her family, relatives, and many friends.
If so desired, donations in memory of Janet may be made to the Alzheimer Society Dufferin County.
