Obituary of James "Jim" William PORTER

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of James “Jim” Porter of Durham, Guelph, Kitchener and Oliphant. Jim is survived by his wife Jan (nee Kerr) of Kitchener and children - Sandy (Linda) of Palmerston, Jeremy, Shannon and Shane (Corinne), all of Kitchener. “Gramps” loved (and loved teasing) his 9 grandchildren - David, Lesley, David, Amanda, Brooke, Mikayla, Emmy, Kayden and Olivia and his 3 great grandchildren – Kaedence, Ethan and Kathleen. Jim is also survived by siblings Barry (Marj) of Hanover, Iris (Art) of Guelph, Adele of Elora and Fred (Donna) of Durham. Uncle Jim will be missed by dozens of nieces and nephews. Without a doubt, many friends, in-laws and even a few outlaws will raise a glass to the man who was always ready with a smile or a hand, whichever was needed. Jim was predeceased by his parents and step parents George (Florence) and Ivy (Tom), as well as siblings Sandra, John and David and great granddaughter Olivia. Jim succumbed to a long battle with cancer (he fought it to a draw) and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by his family. Service and interment will take place Saturday October 16th, 2:00pm at Walker’s Cemetery in Proton Township (085795 Southgate Road 08).
