Though I haven't seen Dave in 30+ years, I remember him fondly.
I remember standing in the driveway outside the apartment he shared with his Dad in Mississauga, throwing stones up at his window. No cell phones then. Soon you'd see Dave's big grin through the curtains and he'd wave you to go to the buzzer.
In his room in the apartment, Dave would sometimes play songs he had written on his acoustic guitar and he passed that DIY musical bug on to me and I learned to play as well. We played in a band together for a bit (with Dave on bass) and it was a gas.
We were very tight for a number of years and shared some adventurous canoe trips in Algonquin Park. A small band of us paddled our way into that sacred and mystical circle where wood meets water and sky and discovered a lot about nature, ourselves and life itself. A few times we even traveled into the cosmos of the night sky, exploring the outer edges of the galaxy - what can I say - it was the 80s!
I'm sorry to hear of his passing and trust that he left a trove of good memories to those who knew him.
I know I have a lot of good memories of him from a long time ago.
Paddle on my friend

Our condolences on Dave's passing. It was 50 + years ago that Dave, Debbie & Cheryl and I (Uncle Neil) would look forward to our weeks stay up at Wasago beach. Papa Joe would pack the 4 of us and himself plus our food and luggage into his small brown Ford Pinto and off to Wasago we'd go. We stayed at a small motel not much bigger than the Ford Pinto. It was behind the restaurant just before you go over the bridge going into the main drag. Rides, games and the beach of course. The motel room if memory serves correct had 2 single beds and a 2 burner hot plate for cooking. Obviously we spent most of our time outside. But Dave, Debbie & Cheryl were like a brother and sisters to me. Side note that my mother and Dave's mom Shirley my sister were pregnant at the same time. Debbie was born 4 months earlier than me so I was born an Uncle. So Papa Joe treated me like his own son as my parents were older. Those were the best summers ever and I'll never forget. We'll miss you dearly Dave. All our Love Uncle Neil, Kelly, Amanda & Jamie.

David, I'm so thankful you're no longer in pain or fear. You're life was filled with moments of joy, love, happiness, heartache, sadness and sorrow. Not unlike many of us...but your last months were blessed with absolute love and support. What a beautiful gift having your child and grandchildren with you...creating memories for them. I'm going to miss your quirky sense of humour and even your demanding orders at Hospice! Most of all...I'll miss your handsome face! Love you David! Hugs, Auntie Donna
