Obituary of Daniel Ross SWAYZE
June 12, 1951 - March 4, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel Ross Swayze, son of Helen and Roy Swayze. Survived by ex-spouse Monique Bourgeois, predeceased by Lizette Schaubel. Dan will fondly be remembered as a father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbour and friend.
Sadly, Daniel lost his battle with liver disease on Thursday, March 4th, 2021
Daniel lived most of his life in Welland Ontario. One of his fondest memories as a young boy was collecting souvenirs from all over the world thrown to him from ship workers passing through the Welland Canal. He enjoyed hunting with his black labs, the outdoors and the odd concert and casino night now and again.
Throughout his 69 years, you also might have thought he saved the key for just about every lock he ever owned. He was a proud leader in Scouts Canada and travelled with them to Canadian Jamborees, as well as a World Jamboree in South Korea. Dan always enjoyed attending Swayze family reunions and a good steak on the grill. Daniel was a modest man with traditional values and enjoyed classic country music. He had a gift of paying attention to details and problem solving. This led to his career as a licensed millwright proudly retiring after more than 30 years in the automotive industry. Daniel faced his health battle with great bravery. Towards the end of his battle he was calm, grateful, patient and at peace.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who walked along his side and helped him throughout his final days.
A private celebration of life will be held by his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to McMaster Children’s Hospital
