Obituary
Obituary of Edmund Steven THOMPSON
September 1, 1941- August 11, 2020
Passed peacefully in his sleep at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville. Predeceased by his parents George and Gladys Thompson. Steve will be fondly remembered by his family; Sister Betty (Bob) Nephews Jim (Cindy) Brian (RaDeana) and his great nieces and nephew.
Steve is best known for his phrase "by golly" and was a fixture on Broadway in the 70's-90's for his store Thompson Sporting Goods. Many may have fond memories of getting their first pair of skates for hockey or shoes at his store. For those into hunting, Steve was a wealth of knowledge when it came to guns and equipment. As a humble man, Steve didn't talk about how he was well respected in the shooting sports community Canada-wide for his knowledge in terms of high accuracy shooting.
Steve was always willing to support the youth or organizations in the community, with either a great chat or donation. "By Golly" will always be remembered for his upbeat personality and for his big genuine smile. He will be greatly missed by the many friendships he forged over the years.
Due to Covid-19, a private family service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville, in Steve's memory.
In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. has been given the honour to service the Thompson Family.
