Obituary of Hendrika BROEZE
January 12, 1931 - July 13, 2020
Our dearly loved Oma, Hendrika Broeze (nee VanGrootheest), passed peacefully at home July 13, 2020 with family by her side.
Hendrika (Harriet) Broeze was born January 12, 1931 in the small town of Ede in the Netherlands. She was the beloved wife of the late Jan (John)Broeze , they married May 5, 1955 and together they purchased a farm in Amaranth and raised their four children.
Loving mother of Wilma Hannivan(the late Bob), Henry Broeze ,Gerald Broeze(Tracy) and Theresa Bell(Gary).
She was a proud and dedicated Oma to her twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Loving Oma to Jennifer, Amanda(Rob), Daniel, William, Simon and Victoria and great Oma to Keagan, Shelbie, Liam, Dylan, Cole and Brooklyn. Loving Oma to Mathew, Sarah(David), Elisa Beth(Geoff) and Great Oma to Ella Rose, Loving Oma to Katrina(David), Patrick(Allison) and Trevor.
Hendrika grew up in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her parents and seven siblings, July 1949 to start a new life.She was the 3rd eldest to the late Maas (Ina), the late Wouterus (Dorothy and the late Tine), survived by Klaartje Procee(the late Piet), the late Gerrit(Judy), survived by Elisabeth Janssen(Gijs) the late Teresa VanderWal(George)and the late Evertje Miedema(the late Robert).
Hendrika was a life time caregiver never expecting anything in return. She was a hard worker who never sat idle, by either working on the farm, baking up a storm, or her never ending knitting/crocheting projects. She belonged to many groups, volunteering her time and many talents.
Her strong will to live a gracious 89 years, along with her unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through her last few years struggling with Dementia.
The family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the Caregivers Hendrika received over the past few years and the incredible support from the Alzheimer's Society.

A Private Graveside Service will take place at Grand Valley Union Cemetery.
