Obituary of George Wilfred SCOTT
March 22, 1924 - June 4, 2020
George was born in Weston, Ontario and resided in Caledon, Erin and Orangeville. George passed peacefully of natural causes at Sunnybrook Veterans K3E Wing.
He was predeceased by his parents Elsworth Scott and Viola (Holmes) Scott and his wife Shirley (Ware) Scott (2006), four brothers and one sister. He will be sadly missed by his four children: Barbara (Jack) Corbett, Nancy (Bob) Slack, George (Lorrie) Scott, Mary (Mike) Snell and his dear sister Eleanore Leonard. He leaves behind 10 adoring grandchildren: Eddie (Nell) Corbett, Cheryl (Huges) Tremblay, Rob (Kerri) Slack, Joe (Lisa) Slack, Penny Slack (Kal Mollison), George Scott, Candice Scott, Jeremy Scott, Michael Snell, and Laura Snell. He also had 9 precious great grandchildren: Weston, Grant and Hutch Corbett, Evelyn and Remi Tremblay, Kenya and Sawyer Slack, Evan Slack, and Lukas Scott.
George had many adventures throughout his 96 years. He was on a construction crew that built the Alaskan Highway, helped build the Avro Arrow, and he fought overseas in WWII. He served in Britain, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands as a Lance Corporal.
He was happiest when he was building or repairing something or regaling us with his many lengthy stories. He made friends wherever he went and was always ready to lend a helping hand to everyone. In later years he fulfilled a lifetime dream of being a pilot by building an ultralight airplane. Through his many adventures and life’s trials he always came out a survivor!
Thank you to all the staff at Sunnybrook Veterans for the wonderful care for the last three years. He was fond of you all.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. has been given the honour to serve the Scott Family.
