Obituary of Richard Noel CONWAY

Richard Noel Conway (January 6, 1950 – May 31, 2020) Richard passed away at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston on Sunday, May 31st, 2020, having suffered a massive stroke earlier in the week. He was surrounded by his immediate family, as he passed gently into the arms of the Lord. Richard was a proud retired Detective Constable with the Nottawasaga Division of the Ontario Provincial Police. He spent 32 years of his career in the Alliston area, where he was well regarded by all of his colleagues and was truly passionate about justice and policing. Married for 38 years to Yvonne, they were blessed to share two children, Philip (Katelyn), and Katherine (Aaron). Cherished Grandy of grand-son Daniel and two grand-daughters; Wendy and wee baby Rae. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Jean, brothers; Sean, Brian and Michael and little sister Noleen. He was the fourth child of a large family who had emigrated to Toronto, Canada from Dublin, Ireland in 1958. Richard will be missed by sisters, Mary, Alacoque, Jane, Ellen (Gary) & Bridget (Brad), brother Christopher, sister-in-law Joyce (wife of Sean) and a great many nieces and nephews and extended family. Richard will be fondly remembered as a fair, compassionate, intelligent, and quick-witted man, who loved his family, his horses, a competitive game of chess, a great book, good music, a cold beer and cooking for his family. Special thanks to his daughter-in-law Katelyn a caring nurse and sister Bridget who sat vigil with the family and all the amazing staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Matthews House Hospice. Also to brother-in-law Mickey for making a custom Urn for Richards remains. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life later this summer. Memorial donations to Matthews House Hospice in Alliston in lieu of flowers. In Memoriam has been given the honour to serve the Conway Family.
