Obituary of Raymond Peter VELYAN

Peter Velyan, 76, Shelburne Raymond Peter Velyan (76) of Shelburne Ontario, died on Wednesday March 25th, 2020 at Headwaters Health Care Centre. A “Celebration of Life Service” will be held at later date, due to the current Covid-19 health crisis. Peter was born on June 20th, 1943 in Geraldton Ontario, the first-born son of Constantine and Mary Velyan. He grew up in Geraldton where his father owned and operated the local bakery and his mother was a nurse. Peter went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the University Of Wilfrid Laurier in Waterloo Ontario, and worked as a Social Worker for the Ontario Social Services Dept as well as the Children’s Aid Dept. He married Catherine Elaine Pushie and they had 2 children, Kimberly and Raymond. Peter enjoyed going on walks, spending time in nature, picking fresh flowers and a little hunting and fishing. He was a talented piano player and enjoyed music, history and anthropology. He was most passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and spent most of his time in his later years sharing that faith openly with literature and personal testimony. Peter also had (3) grandsons and (2) granddaughters that he loved very much. He will be missed dearly. In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. has been given the honour to serve the Velyan Family.
